Safariland Model 6280: built for the Staccato/STI /SVI 1911
Retention you don’t think about is the point of the Safariland Model 6280 with Level II retention. Holster the Staccato/STI /SVI 1911 and it locks; draw it the way you trained and it’s simply there.
Why officers trust it
- Mid-Ride carry. Puts the grip right at the natural sweep of the hand — the patrol standard.
- Uniform-matched finishes. Offered in Hi Gloss to match agency uniform standards.
- SLS (Self-Locking System) rotating hood. A deliberate push-down-and-forward motion no one can defeat from in front of you, adding a layer between your sidearm and a grab.
- Level II retention. Two independent retention mechanisms stand between the pistol and a gun grab — each defeated naturally by the wearer’s trained draw, and only by it.
- Light-bearing fit. Molded for the Staccato/STI /SVI 1911 with its weapon light mounted, so the pistol rides tight with the light in place.
Who carries it
Patrol officers, sheriff’s deputies, and campus and transit police carry this class of rig every shift; agencies standardize on it because armorers can service the hardware and every officer draws the same way.

Common questions
Will it fit my weapon light?
This is a light-bearing model, molded for the Staccato/STI /SVI 1911 with its weapon light in place. Run the exact pistol/light pairing before ordering — a bare pistol in a light-bearing shell will sit loose.
Is it available left-handed?
This listing is right hand-hand only as stocked. Ask the Network if you need the opposite-hand SKU — Safariland builds most models both ways.
Does it need a break-in period?
No. The shell is molded to the firearm, so retention is set by the locking hardware rather than friction — fit is correct out of the box.
