Duty Gear

Two things have to match before anything else: the belt width (2.25-inch duty belt is standard; 1.5- and 1.75-inch belts take different loops) and the finish already on the belt and holster (plain, basketweave, hi-gloss, or nylon). Building out a duty belt
Match the belt first. Loops are cut to belt width. Most uniformed patrol runs a 2.25-inch duty belt; some agencies and most plainclothes run 1.5 or 1.75. Every case here states its belt width in the listing. Belts themselves are under Duty Belts.
Match the finish. Plain, basketweave and hi-gloss leather, laminate in the same patterns, or nylon. A department picks one and every case, holster and belt follows. Boston Leather, Gould & Goodrich and Aker cover the leather lines; Safariland laminate matches its duty holsters; Zero9 and High Speed Gear cover nylon and polymer.
Size the case to the item. Handcuff cases are cut for chain or hinged cuffs, and oversize for large-bow models. Radio holders are sized to the radio model and whether a speaker-mic is attached. Light holders are sized to the light's body diameter (an open-top ring for Streamlight Stinger-class, a closed case for compact lights). OC holders are sized to the canister (MK3, MK4, MK6). Magazine pouches are single or double and cut to the magazine's width.
Closure. Snap, hidden snap, hook-and-loop, or open top. Open-top OC holders are the most-ordered duty gear item on this site because they are the fastest to draw from; closed cases retain better in a struggle. Policy usually decides.
