Concealment
Holsters for plainclothes, investigations, off-duty and backup carry, listed by firearm, light and optic the same way the duty line is. Inside-the-waistband and appendix from We The People, Safariland IncogX, Raven Concealment, Bianchi and Galco; outside-the-waistband paddle and belt-slide from Safariland (578 and 537 GLS, 6378 ALS), Galco, Bianchi, Aker, Gould & Goodrich, Blackhawk and Fobus; ankle, shoulder and pocket rigs from Galco, Bianchi, Aker, Gould & Goodrich, Uncle Mike’s and Sentry.
Three decisions pick the holster. Carry position: inside the waistband, outside on a paddle or belt slide, ankle, shoulder or pocket. Retention: open-top friction, a thumb-release lock (Safariland GLS or ALS), or a thumb break. Fitment: the pistol, whether a light is mounted, and whether the slide carries an optic; the Holster Finder filters on all three. Uniformed retention holsters are under Duty Holsters; belt loops and clips under Holster Accessories.

Choosing a concealment holster
Inside the waistband. The smallest footprint under a shirt. Kydex IWB and appendix rigs from We The People and Raven Concealment (the VanGuard 2 covers only the trigger guard), the Safariland IncogX for light-bearing compacts, and leather or hybrid IWB from Galco and Bianchi. Light-bearing and optic-cut models are separate SKUs; order the combination you carry.
Outside the waistband, paddle or belt slide. Faster to put on and take off, easier to draw, more to cover. The Safariland 578 GLS Pro-Fit fits a range of pistols with one shell and ships with both paddle and belt loop; the 537 GLS is the slim belt-slide version; the 6378 ALS brings duty-grade ALS retention to a plainclothes paddle and is the usual investigator issue where policy requires a lock. Leather belt holsters from Galco (Combat Master, Concealable), Bianchi, Aker FlatSider and Gould & Goodrich cover the traditional side; Blackhawk Serpa CQC and Fobus Evolution are the polymer budget line.
Ankle. Backup-gun carry. Galco Ankle Glove and Ankle Lite, Aker Comfort-Flex, Gould & Goodrich BootLock. Sized to the pistol; most take a calf strap for support.
Shoulder. For seated work and long coats: Galco Classic Lite 2.0, Bianchi X15 and X16, Uncle Mike's. Shoulder systems are sized by chest and pistol, and tie-downs are sold separately under Holster Accessories.
Pocket. Sentry HexGrip and Bianchi Model 3S for sub-compacts and revolvers that ride in a jacket or trouser pocket.
Retention. Open-top friction rigs are the lightest and fastest; GLS and ALS add a thumb-release lock without slowing the draw; thumb-break leather is the traditional lock. Investigative units that write retention into policy usually land on the 578 GLS or the 6378 ALS.
Procurement notes
Plainclothes and investigative units buy in smaller runs than patrol, but the fitment questions are the same: pistol, light, optic, hand. Request a quote with that list and we will return a line-item quote with lead time; Safariland concealment fits are often built to order and the listing states the lead time. Brand pages: Safariland, Galco, Bianchi, Aker, We The People, Raven Concealment.
