Which belt for which job

Duty belt (outer). The 2.25-inch belt that carries the holster, cuff case, radio and light. Leather, laminate or nylon; plain, basketweave or hi-gloss to match the cases; buckle, tri-release or buckleless hook-and-loop closure. The Safariland 94 Buckleless is the most-ordered belt on this site. All of them are under Duty Belts.

Inner belt and keepers. A hook-lined outer belt locks to a loop-faced inner belt worn through the trouser loops; a buckle belt uses four keepers instead. Inner belts are listed with the duty belts; keepers, sliding dees and comfort pads are under Belt Keepers & Accessories.

Garrison and trouser belts. The 1.5- or 1.75-inch belt under the duty rig, or the only belt on a Class B uniform. Boston Leather garrison belts, the Safariland 999 buckleless garrison, Aker and Heros Pride. Hook-and-loop-tipped versions exist for use under a hook-lined outer belt.

Tactical and battle belts. Padded two-piece belts, rigger belts and instructor belts for tactical teams, training staff and the range, from High Speed Gear, Blackhawk, 5.11 and Eagle. Under Tactical & Battle Belts.

Off-duty and everyday gun belts. Stiffened leather and nylon belts from 1791, DeSantis, Versacarry, Aker and 5.11 that hold a concealment holster without rolling. Pair with Concealment holsters.

Sizing. Duty belts are sized over the trousers and the inner belt; most manufacturers tell you to order one size up from the trouser size. The listing states the manufacturer's rule. Keepers are sized to the outer belt width.
