Handcuffs
Chain and hinged handcuffs for law enforcement, corrections and security, from Smith & Wesson, Peerless, ASP, Hiatt, Monadnock and UZI. Standard double-lock and lever-lock models; nickel, black and color finishes; standard-key compatible across every brand listed.
Pick by cuff style first (chain for patrol, hinged for transport and corrections), then lock mechanism (key double-lock or thumb lever-lock), then finish. Color-finish and identifier models exist so a cuff can be tracked to an officer or a unit. Keys and cuff tools are under Keys & Accessories; leg irons under Leg Irons & Transport.

Choosing a handcuff
Chain. Two swivel links between the bows. Fastest to apply, easiest to cuff behind the back on a resisting subject, and the model most agencies issue to patrol. Peerless 700-series, Smith & Wesson Model 100 and ASP chain cuffs are the common fleet picks.
Hinged. A hinge replaces the chain, so the wrists cannot rotate independently. Preferred for transport, corrections and anywhere a subject is cuffed for a long period. Slightly slower to apply.
Lever-lock. A thumb lever double-locks the cuff without a key or pin. It removes the most common double-lock failure (forgetting) and is the reason the Model 100 M&P Lever Lock outsells every other restraint here. If a fleet is moving to lever-lock, move all of it; mixed mechanisms complicate training.
Finish and identification. Nickel is the traditional finish; black is the low-glare one. Color-finish and identifier cuffs (ASP Identifier, Peerless color models) let an agency assign cuffs by unit or officer and spot a missing pair at shift change.
Weight and bow size. Lightweight aluminum-frame models trade durability for belt weight. Oversize bows exist for large wrists; check the listing's bow range before standardizing.
Keys. All brands on this page accept the standard handcuff key. Order spares with the cuffs.
Procurement notes
Handcuffs are a long-cycle item: inspect, lubricate, replace on wear. Agencies standardizing a model should request a quote for quantity, lead time and vendor paperwork. Match the cuff model to a handcuff case; hinged cuffs and oversize models need a case cut for them.
